Why?

That's always a good question to ask before you begin any new venture, like this web site. I recently retired after a 35-year career in higher education IT and I was looking for something new around the curve in the road, but I wasn’t quite sure what it would be. I stumbled onto the idea of merging my interests in photography, the outdoors and spirituality and this site represents the synthesis of those three areas.

My site is inspired by this quote from Thomas Merton from his book, No Man is an Island:

One of the most important - and most neglected - elements in the beginning of the interior life is the ability to respond to reality, to see the value and beauty in ordinary things, to come alive to the splendor that is all around us in the creatures of God.
